What is there to do in and around Jackson Hole during the summer?
Jackson Hole is one of the premier summer vacation destinations in all the US. For most, a summer vacation in Jackson Hole includes a trip to Yellowstone National Park, a day in Grand Teton National Park, and activities in Teton Village. The Hostel, located at the base of the Teton Mountains, in the heart of Teton Village, is an ideal base to explore and enjoy this amazing part of the world.
Can I take a day trip to Yellowstone National Park from The Hostel, and what sites should I see?
Yes. The entrance to Yellowstone National Park is 54 miles from The Hostel. For a day trip, we recommend exploring Yellowstone’s Lower Loop, which includes West Thumb Geyser Basin, Old Faithful and the Upper Geyser Basin, Grand Prismatic Spring and the Midway Geyser Basin, Firehole Lake Drive including many geysers and springs, Gibbon Falls, Norris Geyser Basin, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone including the Upper Falls and the Lower Falls, wildlife viewing in Hayden Valley, and much more.
What are the best things to do in Grand Teton National Park from The Hostel?
The entrance to Grand Teton National Park is one mile from The Hostel. We recommend the 42 Mile Scenic Loop Drive - visit Jenny Lake, and take the 2.5 mile hike or the ferry across the lake and then up to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point, take the North Jenny Lake turnoff to String Lake, take the Signal Mountain Summit Road for a panoramic view of Jackson Hole, for food and drink and great views stop at Signal Mountain Lodge or Jackson Lake Lodge, for an outing on the water visit colter Bay on Jackson Lake, stop at Oxbow Bend for one of the most beautiful and photographed views in the park, continue on to Dornans for more food, drink, and spectacular views, plus any more lakes, hikes, and historic sites.
What summer activities are there in Teton Village and the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort?
Teton Village and the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort function as one area from a visitors prospective, together offering myriad activities and events. Take the aerial tram to the top of Rendezvous Mountain for hiking or sightseeing, mountain bike in the Jackson Hole Bike Park, rent e-bikes, try the Via Ferrata (guided cliff climbing), go guided rock climbing, go paragliding, explore the aerial ropes course, and participate in seasonal camps and activities for kids. In the surrounding area, go whitewater rafting or take a scenic float trip on the Snake River, go fly fishing, take a bicycle tour, take a hot air ballon flight, and go horseback riding.
Are there concerts, festivals, and live music in Teton Village during the summer?
Yes. Teton Village hosts a variety of music and cultural events throughout the summer, including Concerts on the Commons and the Grand Teton Music Festival, which features classical music performances in July and August. Local venues such as the Mangy Moose also offer live entertainment, while additional festivals and events take place throughout the season on the Teton Village Commons.
